Megan Clayton, founder of Doodle Acres and lover of all things dogs, grew up watching and eagerly helping her Aunt TC, who was a dog groomer for over 40 years. She mentored with TC for years and was also her helping hand in breeding party poodles of all sizes. She knew from a young age that she would be a dog groomer some day! Now Megan is the owner of The Barker Shop Dog Groomer and Boutique, located just outside of quaint downtown Kernersville, NC where she has been grooming dogs of all breeds for over 8 years.
Megan’s first four legged companion, Marilyn, was a jet black miniature poodle that she dearly loved. This was also the start of her strong rooted connection to Poodles. Throughout the years Megan has shown poodles of all sizes and helped them gain Championship status.
In more recent years she discovered her love of Golden Retrievers. Megan has two young boys, Bentley, 7, and Robbie, 4. She wanted to get a family friendly dog that would be a great companion for her boys. Here is were the Golden comes in. It was love at first sight when they laid their eyes on Gunner, a fun-loving, big teddy bear Golden Retriever. His playfulness fits right in with her boys and his gentle, loyal personality makes him the best kind of family dog.
Between the love of these two breeds, she knew that Goldendoodles was the breed she wanted to work hard on and perfect. Megan, Bentley and Robbie love their dogs, and love helping families find their own perfect Doodle match.
The Goldendoodle Association of North America primary objective is to promote and guide the development of the Goldendoodle while maintaining optimum health, establishing reliability in health and temperament; and in coat and type for multigens. GANA Breeders have agreed to recommended levels of testing of their breeding stock (and they submit verification), and to keep genetic diversity in the breed by not breeding closely related dogs.
