About the Breeder

Megan Clayton, founder of Doodle Acres, grew up helping her Aunt TC, who was a dog groomer for over 40 years.  She mentored with TC for several years, assisting in breeding party poodles of all sizes. Megan knew from a young age that she wanted to be a dog groomer some day! Her journey began as the owner of The Barker Shop Dog Groomer and Boutique, located just outside of quaint downtown Kernersville, NC where she has been grooming dogs of all breeds for over 8 years.

Megan’s first four legged love, Marilyn, was a jet black miniature poodle. Marilyn was the initial connection that inspired Megan’s love for poodles. Over the years Megan has bred and shown many Champion grade poodles.

Recently she discovered a love for Golden Retrievers. Megan wanted a family dog that would be a great companion for her two young sons. And that’s how Golden became a part of her life! It was love at first sight when they laid their eyes on Gunner, a fun-loving, big teddy bear Golden Retriever. His playfulness fits right in with her boys and his gentle, loyal personality makes him the best kind of family dog.  

Her love for these two breeds inspired her to become a breeder. Megan and her sons love their dogs! And they love helping families find their own perfect Doodle match.
